Women`s Health and the Environment
Explore the challenges facing scientists as they work to uncover the connections between our physical surroundings—from the food we eat, to the air we breathe— and our personal well being. Topics covered will include the dangers of today"s pesticides, industrial pollutants, carcinogens and health; a look at the environmental causes of breast cancer; and scientific answers about what we can do to prevent illness, including nutritional aspects of cancer prevention.

Dr. DEVRA DAVIS, Participant, is Visiting Professor at Carnegie Mellon University"s Heinz School and the author of the award-winning book When Smoke Ran Like Water: Tales of Deception and the Battle Against Pollution (Basic Books, 2003), which was a National Book Award Finalist. She is one of the world"s most visible and outspoken advocates for improving the environment to protect public health.

Dr. MITCHELL GAYNOR, Participant, is the Founder and President of Gaynor Integrative Oncology and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Weill Medical College, affiliated with Cornell University and New York Hospital. Well known in the media as an integrative medicine specialist, he has been featured in many national newspapers and magazines and has made extensive television and radio appearances. Dr. Gaynor is the best-selling author of four books and a CD. His new book, Nurture Nature, Nurture Health: A Doctor"s Guide to Environment and Health, will be published in December 2004.
